The Board of the NZ Bird Rescue Charitable Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Lynn Miller to fill the new position of General Manager of the NZ Bird Rescue Centre. Dr Miller will be taking up the position on 29 April 2019.
Dr Miller is a New Zealander who has worked in Canada and the United States for many years and is looking forward to returning to her native country. She is presently the Director of Wildlife Education at the South Florida Wildlife Centre at Fort Lauderdale in Florida, USA. Dr Miller has a long history of both management and scientific involvement in wildlife rehabilitation, with a special interest in avian wildlife and sea birds in particular.
During her career Dr Miller has worked as an avian research biologist for Environment Canada and as a Biologist, Educator and Environmental Toxicologist for a number of wildlife organisations in Canada. Lynn’s expertise in the field of wildlife rehabilitation has led to her being asked to deliver lectures and papers internationally for many organisations and conference in this specialist field. She has also produced much material for various publications and designed and presented courses for Veterinary and Environmental Technology programmes in Canada.
Dr Miller holds a doctorate in biology as well as qualifications in science and ecotoxicology. She is dedicated to passing on her academic knowledge and practical skills, and is looking forward to providing regular training for all paid and volunteer staff at our Bird Rescue Centre at Green Bay.
The Board is excited that we have been fortunate to secure the services of such a highly qualified and enthusiastic wildlife specialist and we look forward to utilising Dr Miller’s skills, knowledge and experience in moving our organisation forward as a centre of excellence in the field of avian rehabilitation.
